Having broken multiple bones, including my right foot and leg twice, I was told I may not walk again. Following a handful of surgeries, my already poor posture suffered, and by the age of 30 I had a limp, a noticeable scoliosis and a frozen shoulder. I was stiff and in pain.
Pilates develops the body uniformly, corrects wrong posture, restores physical vitality, invigorates the mind and elevates the spirit.
It was at this point I stumbled across Pilates, the benefits of which, have far exceeded my expectations. Progressively working to correct imbalances and improve symmetry, strength, suppleness and sensitivity, I have developed confidence in my ability to positively affect my own physical and mental health and to function free of chronic injury and pain.
Since qualifying with Body Control Pilates in 2012, I have trained in and practiced a number of other movement modalities, with a view to combining the best of East and West, of ancient wisdom and modern understanding.
Patience and persistence are vital qualities in the ultimate successful accomplishment of any worthwhile endeavor.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy spending time with my children, hill walking, swimming and training with my partner Sam, www.sussextaichi.co.uk. A life-long horse rider, I am currently doing an MSc in Equine Science, having successfully completed the P.G Cert. in Equestrian Rehabilitation and Performance at Hartpury University. My interest particularly lies in researching and promoting the importance of rider fitness and wellbeing, not only for enhancing performance, but also for improving horse welfare and horse and rider health and safety.
