Qigong

I leave Antonia’s Qigong sessions feeling calmer, more aligned and with ease in my body. After only a few sessions my strength and flexibility have improved and so has my postural awareness. Antonia’s verbal instruction along with gentle adjustments means I’m noticing habitual tension patterns giving me the opportunity to release and re-balance. I love this class‘ Jane

Qigong is an ancient mind–body practice, used in the East for thousands of years to improve resilience, physical literacy, mental clarity, self-awareness and longevity. Similar to Tai Chi, the practice incorporates opening/loosening exercises with the breath, a standing practice and slow whole body movement.

Based on the concept of cultivating Chi or Qi, the practice regulates the nervous system to manage stress and pain and bring the body and mind into balance. Knowable only through direct experience Chi or Qi, is defined in the West as ‘vitality’ or ‘life force’. Gong as cultivation through sustained effort.  When practiced properly and consistently, Qigong is a deep and highly effective conditioning system that profoundly improves the practitioner’s physical and mental wellbeing and performance.
